Listed below are the abstracts and links for downloading the biology software created by Jim Ekstrom, and his biology classes at Phillips Exeter Academy.
The programs are FREE for distribution and the author welcomes suggestions for repairs and improvements.
Macintosh Programs:
You may need HyperCard Player if you do not have it already on your computer. The player can be downloaded at: Apple Computer.
DIGESTION (250K) A HyperCard tutorial on the human digestive system. Suitable for introductory biology classes.
AIDS (432K) is a series of HyperCard stacks describing the human Immune System and the effect of the AIDS virus on this sytem.
CELLULAR RESPIRATION (500K) A HyperCard program on human cellular respiration. Suitable for an Honors Introductory Biology or A.P. course.
DNA/Fingerprinting (606K) A "colorized" HyperCard program that introduces students to the use of DNA Fingerprinting as it is used in distinguishing genetic material from different sources. The program describes the use of resriction enzymes, gel electrophoresis and the final analysis of the DNA bands by means of radioactive probes and X-Ray film. This is a "stand-alone" program that does not need HyperCard.
Macintosh/Windows Programs:
