| The volcanic sample -- bottom right -- is much more porous or vesicular than the other Bartolome example. The ash slope shown in the photograph below is covered with a couple of different kinds of wispy plants that act to stabilize the ash covered slope. From the top of this slope it is possible to see numerous volcanic cones long with great numbers of lava tubes. |
