PEA came out playing hard against NMH. The score remained close until NMH took 5
consecutive points and a 14-10 lead, as the Big Red serve receive ran into difficulty. Kate
Kelly brought us back into the game with 4 service points and we seemed to be holding
on with a 24 to 20 lead. However, serve receive difficulties again hurt us in two more
positions and we lost the game 28-30. We won the second game fairly easily, thanks
to an 8 point run by Natasha Meyer. The deciding game was close, with neither team
scoring more than 3 consecutive points. Ironically, overall we had one of the best serve
receive days in PEA volleyball history. Letting up for a few runs was too costly, however.

We always have difficulty scoring against tough Hotchkiss defense, and today was no
exception. For the most part we played a consistent and smart game. Outside hitter Lucy
Abell and Kate Kelly hit around the block well, tried to find holes, and forced Hotchkiss
to give us free balls. Our defensive and offensive errors eventually got to us, however.
Despite another strong match receiving serve, we had difficulty siding out.
