The match started innocuously with six straight sideouts. From there, things went
downhill. Mediocre passing, poor sets, too many balls into the net, and a few balls
that fell softly between players and we quickly found ourselves behind 4-16. We
picked up the level of play slightly by the end of the first game, but we didn't manage
to score any points on our serve. We came out much tougher in the second game,
trading leads for most of it. Failing to capitalize on a 29-27 game point, we had
another chance at 30-29 and missed the serve. Hotchkiss pulled it out 30-32. We
played hard in the third game, but Hotchkiss dominated. Tough Hotchkiss defense
picked up most of our best hits, allowing only miss hits and a few well-placed shots
to land. They hit hard, and although we got our hands on a lot of hits, we only
managed to deflect them, and stuffed very few. Sad to say it, but for the fourth
year in a row, Hotchkiss has ended our season.
