(15-4, 8-15, 5-15, 15-13, 15-11) Big win for the
young Exeter squad. This was the first time PEA won at NMH since
1994. It was the second year in a row PEA ended NMH's undefeated
streak. The fourth game in this match showed the team's determination,
as they had to battle back from an early 2-9 deficit. Prep setter
Austin Phelps led that comeback with six straight points. Tei Carpenter
had a great day hitting, serving, and receiving, leading the way to the
Exeter victory.

Quarterfinals 11/18 Exeter
3 Andover 2 (14-16, 15-11, 15-7, 10-15, 15-7) Revenge
is sweet! Big Red stepped up its game to defeat Andover in a close
match. Playing a more aggressive game at the net, Exeter prevented
Andover from attacking effectively. Tei Carpenter had a personal
best 16 kills and 44 attacks. Katie Vang and Liz Lord also had personal
best days at the net. Puja Ahluwalia had a perfect serving day, collecting
16 points.
Semifinals 11/21 Exeter 3 NMH 2 (4-15, 15-8, 9-15, 15-12, 15-12) Exeter had some difficulty receiving serve in the first game, forcing us into a defensive stance. The team got rolling in the second game, using a balanced attack to keep NMH on their heels. Pushing the match to a fifth game (Exeter's 6th time this season) the team played a solid defense. Michelle Lai served 3 straight points in the fourth rotation giving Exeter a 6-3 lead. In the rally scoring format, trading sideouts the remainder of the game was all that was necessary to take the game and the match.
Finals 11/21 Exeter 1 St. Pauls 3 (15-8, 12-15, 2-15, 6-15) St. Pauls beat Choate 3-0 in their semifinal match. Perhaps cold from a long wait while Exeter played NMH, St. Pauls came out tentative in the first game. Exeter was able to capitalize on strong consistent serving. Exeter also jumped out to an early 9 to 3 lead in the second game before St. Pauls rallied and tied the game. From here it was downhill for Exeter. Exeter's missed serves, bad passes to the setter, and tentative hitting all allowed the St. Pauls offense to take over the match and exploit Exeter's weaknesses. By the end of the match, St. Pauls was playing superb volleyball and Exeter was out of answers and out of energy. Congratulations to St. Pauls.
